The repair shop has completed several minor to major rust repairs of mechanical and structural metal components, take a look at some examples below to see the difference in quality following a visit to our shop.
The pictures above illustrate a sheet metal repair on a unique component required for the safe operation of a key piece of equipment for one of our commercial customers. Without this component one of the fleet vehicles cannot operate in the field. You can see the difference in the exhaust port opening, we removed all bad metal and created new parts, welded them together and painted the unit with high temp paint. This repair should increase the life of this component by several years.
This unit had several leaks in a primary coil used to heat water for a commercial cleaning system. Our repair shop took the part from the customer and began the repair by dismantling the entire unit. A pressure test identified the leaks, each leak was repaired by welding. The unit was in rough shape so we sand basted the rust off, fixed up the weak areas and painted it with high temp paint. We were able to put the unit back together and deliver it to the customer in a timely manner, avoiding costly delays for our customer with his customers.
This project is near and dear to all of our hearts here at the shop, Chuck Thomas, the president of our Welder Training and Testing Center, decided he wanted to restore a '69 Chevelle. He purchased a car (if you could really call it that) and we started by hauling it to the shop with our car trailer. The before picture above is not what it looked like when we started the tear down, this was a complete car. Our team disassembled the entire car until no two parts were connected.
The frame was inspected and we found it to be a good start. The center and rear sections were boxed in by cutting new sheet metal to extremely close tolerance panels and placed into the frame rails. Each of the panels was welded into place using heat distribution practices. Once the frame was welded our team began grinding and sanding to create smooth profiles along the frame rails.
We decided to powder-coat the frame. The fame was sandblasted, zinc primed and, of course, powder-coated black.
Keep posted for up-dates to this project! Currently it is sitting on wheels with new disc brakes and the entire drive train is installed. The body is scheduled to hit the rotisserie soon for sheet metal repairs.
This truck was purchased by one of our customers with a plastic bed liner installed. During an annual inspection the mechanic pointed out the rust cancer. After a failed attempt to return the truck our customer was left with little choices. A new bed would cost a few thousand dollars. He brought his truck to us in the "BEFORE" photo condition. We delivered it back to him in the "AFTER" photo condition.
